I've become increasingly unhappy with where I am in life. I feel like I'm in a waiting period. That's what it feels like. Senior year is suppose to be this great thing, and you're suppose to have fun and go out and run around and do stupid high school things...

But I feel like I'm just stuck. I don't have friends I can have intelligent conversations with. I don't have friends who want to go out and do things. I just... I'm stuck.

Uhg.

But uh, I've found refuge in music? That's literally all I do now. I just look up artists and bands and various other things and listen to everything.

I think that may be why I'm so annoyed with everyone. No one loves music like I love music. It's disappointing...

Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. You can compute your own score at http://anthony.liekens.net/pub/scripts/last.fm/eclectic.php

My eclectic score is currently: 95/100

The 95 related artists for my profile are A Rocket To The Moon, A.C. Newman, Amy Millan, Andrew McMahon, Arctic Monkeys, Ashley Tisdale, Augustana, Band of Horses, Ben Gibbard, Ben Kweller, Bernard Fanning, Bishop Allen, Black Kids, Blind Pilot, Bob Evans, Brand New, Breathe Electric, Bright Eyes, Britney Spears, Broken Social Scene, Carrie Underwood, Coconut Records, Colin Meloy, Death Cab for Cutie (3), Delta Spirit, Fall Out Boy, Forgive Durden, Gloriana, Goldspot, Great Big Sea, Iration, Josh Pyke, Julianne Hough, Kasabian, Katy Perry, Kellie Pickler, Kelly Clarkson, Limbeck, Manchester Orchestra, Maritime, Matt Pond PA, Memphis, Metric, Moxy Früvous, My Morning Jacket, Neutral Milk Hotel, Oh No! Gay marriage:

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, liposuction and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Copy and paste this if you believe that gay marriage should be legalized, and that all people, no matter their color, creed, religion, preference, or circumstance, have the same natural rights that Thomas Jefferson wrote of in the Declaration of Independence: to experience "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness."

You can't tell people who they can love. It's true.

And whoever disagrees is narrowminded and ridiculous.

And I will argue about it.

Oh, I will.

God, I really hate What Not to Wear.

Like, I've watched them tear down and rebuild dozens of people already, and it's horrible. They're taking these people's personality's and RUINING them.

I understand that yes, some people actually do need help. But uh, who actually has the money to pay for any of these things in real life? Half of them shop cheap because they have to, so obviously it's unrealistic to throw away all of their clothes. Even more so to have them spend $2000 or however much they're given, and give them nothing later. Now they have expectations to meet and no money to meet them.

And, today I watched a girl drastically conform to Stacey and Clinton's "ideal" woman. Whatever, she was a stripper. SHE WAS CRYING because she felt like the rules she was given don't show her personality. They don't. At all. They drown her personality in conformity.

And Stacey's an ugly bitch. WTF is with her hair? She can't possibly think she looks good, right?

I hate the concept of changing someone into what you think they should be. They think it's for the person's own good, and sometimes it is. But what about their friends? Can't they just, I don't know.... TALK TO THE PERSON?! Instead of sending these tapes of their friends to two people who know nothing about the person they're trying to help?

Like really? I believe you can't force someone to change. I would hate if someone did that to me. I'd say no. Because really, a good friend or family member would tell ME, and not a tv show, that I need to change the way I look.

I really hate that show. So much.

Viva La Vida )

I was never a fan of Coldplay. I mean really, do Brand New, Bright Eyes, and Coldplay really mesh well together?

Hardly.

But Chris Martin's voice suddenly became amazing when I heard him everyday on the iTunes commercial. And suddenly Coldplay became interesting.
Sure, Clocks, The Scientist, and Fix You are all good songs, but there was something missing to make then great. Speed of Sound... not so much with the appreciation there. It sounds like everything else, and I can only tell the difference by the chorus, as most songs go.

I must say I have high standards for music, thus rating the three listed songs is on my scale. Just to be clear, I love Clocks. Love it.

My point is, Viva La Vida is amazing. It's just a great song.

SECOND RANT
Free music on the internet is a God-given gift. If you can find it, get it. This is the legit stuff, not the illegal go to jail stuff. Legit downloads on record studio sites and the like...

Caseinpoint: Saddle Creek Records.
8 Free Songs. Enough to be an entire album (ok... EP).

Gotta love technology. :D
